Heikki Sorsa started snowboarding at the age of 13, when he got bored with skiing. It was in Mustavaara, near the Sorsa family cottage, where he first stood on a snowboard. And that seriously was it for him - Heikki hasn’t since been seen on skis. “Snowboarding literally just blew me away, it was just so different and relaxed,” he says. “There are no limits in this sport, you can always learn just as much new as you wish.”
Heikki just took to snowboarding, and in 2002 he made his mark not only on the sport, but on the world as well. Dropping into the 2002 Olympic Halfpipe, Heikki rocked the dyed mohawk, blasting huge runs all the way down the pipe. To many people he was the rebel of the contest, embodying the rock and roll attitude of shredding.
Since those crazy days, Heikki has spent his time off the contest circuit and instead in front of the camera, locking down parts in Mack Dawg Films biggest releases of the season. This year Heikki has a part in the film “Picture This” along with other Red Bull riders, Shaun White and Eero Ettala.
Also, in the beginning of Dec. ’07, Heikki stomped a huge one-footed 360 at the Air and Style, blowing the crowd away.
